HeartMath is the iPhone attachment that allows you to manage your stress through interactive feedback technology through their innovative iOS app. The Heart Math sensor attaches to your iPhone’s headphone jack and then clips gently to your earlobe. There it senses the oxygenation of your blood along with your pulse rate and, using a special algorithm, determines your stress level. You can use the interactive dial on the screen of your phone in the app to direct your breathing and muscle relaxation until you reach a stress-free zone.
In this live segment from the final day at CES 2014 in the Tech Podcast Network booth, Catherine Calarco from HeartMath.com came by and chatted with Jamie Davis, the Podmedic and Chris Miller from SpikedStudio.com. Catherine tells them that HeartMath helps people manage their emotional response to stress. This way, people can be who they are, their authentic selves, with less stress, better communication, relationships and health.
Kyle Kirkpatrick from Decibullz.com joined Jamie Davis, the Podmedic and Chris Montera, the Geekymedic on their Tech Podcast Network LIVE coverage from the International CES conference in Las Vegas. On the final day, Jamie and Chris were excited to check out the custom-molded in-ear earbuds from Decibullz. You mold them and create them at home using your microwave oven.
The brand new Decibullz Contour earbuds are turning heads, literally, at CES 2014. This is the newest version of their popular earphone. This new earphone is the best earphone they have ever created, with better sound, better seal, and better fit. Plus, they are even easier to mold! This new design makes it easier than ever for users to create a perfect fitting and great sounding earphone. The team at Decibullz has combined their customized molding material with a specially selected silicone tip. The soft tip aligns the earphone in the ear canal and creates a comfortable sound-isolating seal. The tip works in conjunction with the molding material that conforms to the concha (bowl part of the ear) to keep the earphone secure and comfortable.
Justin Schneller from GeoNaute.com came by the TPN.tv booth at the International CES conference in Las Vegas to pick up the TPN Pick Innovator Award for the GeoNaute 360° sports camera they debuted at the show. The GeoNaute brings a whole new dimension, literally, to the sports and active camera space. Their innovative 360° camera view allows the sports and outdoor enthusiast to record what’s going on around them in real time, HD video. The mobile app and cloud console that comes with the camera allows you to view the recording, rotating the view wherever you want during the recorded playback, seeing up, down, forward or behind while wearing the camera.

This gives them the ability to live alone while being monitored from afar by the Great Call 5-Star service.
In addition, 5-Star also offers Link, a service that allows your Grandmother, or other family member to include updates to you about their status including any times they’ve called for assistance. This is perfect for family members who live at a distance from their loved ones.

Did you know your keyboards at home and at work are the dirtiest places in our lives? Seal Shield knows and they’ve created the best solution out there, a completely washable keyboard line that’s actually dishwasher safe! Health Tech Weekly host Jamie Davis, the Podmedic got the chance to chat with SealShield CEO Brad Whitchurch in the digital health pavilion at the International CES conference this year about their brand new products for the office and home.
The Seal Shield line of washable keyboards is the perfect solution for health care workplaces where infection control is among the biggest concerns right now. By preventing the spread of infection, patients heal faster and are sent home sooner, reducing health care costs to all of us. The Seal Shield site says it best:
“Today’s active life is touch-dependent. Whether it is a computer keyboard or mouse, a TV remote, an MP3 player, earphones or cell phones, the technology that is so interlaced with all we do depends on touch. Yet, common touch surfaces can harbor bacteria and spread infection. As a result, consumers are looking to buy products that have antimicrobial protection …”
In addition to the keyboard line, there is also a complete line of mobile device protection products for tablets and smartphones. Brad and Jamie show several of the products in this video, showing off their water proof nature as they are submerged in a tub of water and still work like new. You can find the whole line of Seal Shield products at their website at SealShield.com. All of the products in this video are available now!
Would you like to have a Star Trek medical scanner in your home to help you monitor your family when they’re ill? So would I!
The Scanadu Scout vital sign sensor tracks 5 key vital signs just by holding it up to the patient’s forehead. Health Tech Weekly host Jamie Davis, the Podmedic chatted with Sam at the Scanadu booth at CES Digital Experience event this year about the Scanadu Scout health scanner. It communicates via bluetooth to your smart phone app, sending your temperature, heart rate, SpO2 (oxygenation) level, blood pressure and heart ECG in just 10 seconds.
The app allows you to monitor different profiles for all of your family members and track their vital signs over time. The device is an important tool and the data collected can be used by you to communicate information to your doctor you would ordinarily have to go into the office or emergency room to collect. Now, with the Scanadu Scout, you get to collect that information at home and maybe put off an office visit or ER trip and just talk with your doctor from home.
As if it is reading your mind, the Scanadu Scout™ detects problems early. It potentially decreases hospital readmissions, and the costs of managing chronic conditions for patients and insurance companies alike. Yep, all that just by placing it on your forehead. Imagine all the other possibilities.
Jamie Davis, the Podmedic stops by the Lumo booth at CES Digital Experience recently in Las Vegas to see what they are bringing to market to help you improve your posture and back health. The Lumo Lift is the second posture and back health improving product from the folks at Lumo.
The Lumo Lift is a wearable fitness device that tracks your activity level along with watching how you’re sitting and standing along the way. Humans spent a lot of time evolving to be mobile creatures but now we spend a lot of time sitting and standing immobile. The Lumo Lift works with a mobile app to help remind us to use proper posture which actually uses less energy and keeps us healthier.
The device is small and is worn using a magnetic clasp so it can be worn under the clothing or on top of it so the Lumo Lift can be hidden or worn proudly to announce your fitness awareness to the world. The Lumo Lift will be released in late spring 2014 and is currently available for pre-order at their website, LumoBodyTech.com for $69. It will retail for $99 in stores later this year. Get yourself the Lumo Lift now while pre-order supplies last!
Oh, no! The power’s out, what are you going to do? If you have the Blackout Buddy CO from Eton, you’ll have a gadget that will not only help you through the power outage but keep you safe at the same time. Skip Orvis from EtonCorp.com chats with Health Tech Weekly host Jamie Davis, the Podmedic at the CES Unveiled event. The Blackout Buddy CO is an upgrade of the previous Blackout Buddy. The new device is not just a rechargeable flashlight that comes on when automatically when the power goes out and provides a night light the rest of the time. It also incorporates a carbon monoxide detector and alarm, too.
We’re seeing more tools for the home or office that provide additional safety features like the Blackout Buddy CO. Blackout Buddy doubles as an LED nightlight, so you can keep your kid’s rooms, hallways, or office illuminated during normal power cycles at night and when the lights are turned off. With the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO), a colorless, odorless and poisonous gas that can be a silent killer when people are using generators during long power outages, the Blackout Buddy CO doubles now as a true life saving device. The Blackout Buddy CO will be released by this summer in time for hurricane season on the East Coast and will retail for $59.95. Look for it as an important part of your family or business’s preparedness kit.
