MOCAHeart Tracks Health With Two Thumbs Up

MOCAHeartMOCAHeart uses a unique sensor package to track a person’s health and wellness with just two thumbs touching the device. As Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder Naama Stauber says the MOCAHeart device with a smart sensor that gives you an indication of your heart health. You simply place two thumbs on the device for 25 seconds, which has a built-in electrocardiogram (ECG) sensor along with other proprietary sensors.

The sensor communicates with a smartphone app and can be used to track the effects of lifestyle changes like changes to your diet and exercise levels. The neurosurgeon who helped develop the MOCAHeart was frustrated with patients being unable to go home from surgery and successfully track their vital signs on their own. With the small, pocket-sized device, patients can track their vitals and send the data to their physician or loved ones.

MOCAHeart is available now at MOCACare.com or at Amazon.com for just $149.

Babolat Play Connected Racket Raises The Game

Babolat PlayBabolat‘s pedigree in tennis is hard to beat, going right the way back to the 19th Century, when the company helped create the first racket strings. Today, it’s pushing forwards into the 21st Century with a new connected racket based on their AeroPro Drive to help both tennis professionals and keen amateurs improve their game. Don chats with Jean-Marc Zimmermann, Babolat CIO.

The Babolat Play racket looks like an ordinary racket on the outside but with sensors integrated into the handle, players now have access to a wealth of information – power level, impact position on the racket head, type and number of strokes (forehand, backhand, serve, overhead smash), top spin or back spin, all provided through a smartphone app for both Apple and Android. Incredibly, there are no sensors outside of the handle, so the racket can be treated like any other racket when it comes to match preparation and re-stringing. The racket can be taken on court for six hours between charges, which is plenty for a couple of matches, and holds over 150 hours of performance information.

The Babolat Play racket will be on sale in mid-January for $349. Two further models will be on sale; one lighter for junior players ($299) and one with a larger head (if I understand correctly), also at $349.

Zofie Aims to Personalize Your Workout Equipment Quickly and Easily

ZofieKeeping to a fitness routine that works can be hard; the only thing harder is starting a new routine. I never know what I should be doing, and know almost nothing about how a particular machine works, or how best to take advantage of it. That is where the Zofie system comes in.

Using fuzzy logic and Kinect sensors, the machines can recognize you and provide a workout based on you. It even takes into account your activities at any given moment, and tailors the experience accordingly. The given example, on a treadmill, the track came move faster or slower, as well as change the incline, based on your heart rate. It can even suggest alterations to your posture if you move too far out of a safe zone.

The technology is currently being implemented in fitness equipment, so expect to see it showing up in a fitness center near you.

Connected Cycle Keep Track of Your Bike, Whether You Are on It or Not

ConnectedCycleConnected Cycle is a bike pedal that connects to an existing bicycle that helps you keep track of the location of your bike. If you are riding it, it will keep track of your path and let you know things like distance traveled and calories burned. If you are not with the bike, it will alert you that the bike is in motion and allow you to keep track of where it has gone.

With a built-in internet connection, you never have to worry that it will be too far out of range to alert you of position. You can even bike without your phone and still log your route. It is especially important for keeping track of theft.

One of the really great things about the pedal is that it never needs to be externally charged. Using the motion produced by biking, the pedal is able to charge itself whenever it is in motion. The product is not yet available, but they will be launching a crowd funding campaign in the coming months.

Blue Maestro Brings Us a Connected Pacifier

Pacifier-PacifiThe team at BlueMaestro.com has now come up with the connected pacifier for those parents who want to keep track of their small children in a variety of ways. The Pacifi monitors your child’s internal temperature and sends that data to the accompanying free app using low energy Bluetooth. It also acts as a tracking device alerting parents when the child wanders too far away from the parent’s smartphone or connected mobile device.

Finally it will help you find it when it is misplaced by the child or parent by pinging the smartphone to its location and making an audible alert tone when your phone is nearby. This type of connected family monitoring technology gives parents a number of tools to help them keep track of their kid’s health and whereabouts. Find more information over at BlueMaestro.com.
