Kanex Wins with the GoPower Watch at CES

Kicking off GNC’s video production for CES, Todd’s at award-winners Kanex with Tracy, who shows off some of their latest accessories for the Apple Watch.

Kanex won a “Innovation Honoree” at CES 2017 for their GoPower Watch, a portable battery charge for the Apple Watch. Priced at US$99 and shipping now, the GoPower Watch will wirelessly recharge a Watch around six times from the 4,000 mAh battery. There’s a USB port round the back for charging other devices too and it’s Apple Certified as well. A mini-version with a smaller battery and smaller price (US$59) is coming shortly.

For those who don’t need to charge on the go, Kanex have a table-top charger for the office or beside the bed coming shortly. It’s US$59 and will be available in February.

YooTechPros Android Tablet

Todd talks with Ernest Wolf, CEO of YooTechPros, creators of an Android-based tablet PC that actually looks quite good.

Using the same LG touch screen as the iPad, this tablet offers twin USB ports, a microSD slot, front- and rear-facing cameras and runs Android 2.2. It’s also slightly lighter and thinner than the iPad. Unfortunately, the model in the video is a non-working prototype but it does look good. $399 for the 16 GB, wifi version and available in the Spring.

For the germ-adverse of us, YouTechPros offers an antibacterial screen film for tablets called the iProtector for $19.99.

Epocit Dual Sided Apple Accessory Magnetic Case Holder!

One of the biggest problem about carrying the iPod or Nano around, especially if you are a runner or walker is that they are too easy to drop. Which can lead to broken screens and other damage. One solution is being offer by Epocit which is offering a dual magnetic case for the 4th generation iPod and fifth generation Nano.

They expect to have a case for the iPhone sometime in 2011. You slide your iPod or Nano into the one sleeve and then stick the other piece inside your cloths where you want to carry it. Place the iPod or Nano with sleeve on top and it will stay. Since it weighs only 4 oz you hardly notice it. You can run, walk, dance, do what ever you want and it will not come off. Need to change something on the device, just pull it off along with the top sleeve, make the change and slap it back on and you are all set.

If you turn your device around so the front glass is facing the sleeve, this will protect the glass on the device if you happen to drop it when you are switching location.

So if you are a bit of a klutz or are rough on your iPod or Nano the Epocit maybe exactly the case you are looking for. Epocit says they are still working to get distributors for the case but expect it to be available for around $29.00 at multiple stores, and will come along with an optional arm band.

Keyboard covers – You need one!

Keyboard covers, why do you need it?

In case you spill food and liquids on your keyboard?  Sure, but that is NOT why you are going to want the best quality keyboard covers on the market from KB Covers.  You want these covers because they give you all the shortcuts for professional programs such as Final Cut Pro, Aperture, After Effects etc.

I own FOUR of them.  I was so impressed that I ended up ordering them the same day I did this interview with the KB Covers team on the floor at CES.  I especially like the cover that shows all the typical Apple iOS shortcuts.  I am buying a stack of them to give to some of my friends who recently bought their first Macbook.  What better way to learn the new operating system while protecting your laptop from accidental Lattés at the same time?

These keyboard covers are made for Apple products, so PC lovers will have to wait and see if a PC line is on the move.

If you are a touch typist (or working on it) you can get a cover that hides the print on your keys, which is a fantastic way to accelerate your typing skills.  I have been using blank keyboards for years because it keeps my typing skills up to code and it makes it easier when you switch between different languages since the print on the keys only match one language.

3 months ago, I bought a silicone keyboard cover in the Apple store and I hated it.  I don’t remember what brand it was but I threw it away after only two days.  It felt icky and it made it difficult to type.  I have been using the covers from KB Covers for two weeks and I love them.  I bought the covers for the Macbook Pro Unibody, which has the added bonus of also fitting perfectly the small wireless keyboard from Apple.

Check them out!  This is one product I can personally vouch for.
