Samsung 950 3d Displays Stunning

The upcoming Samsung 950 is not only 3D capable, but is also being billed by Samsung as their top-of-the-line 2D display as well. This set will even do 2D to 3D conversion. It has an ultra thin chassis and no bulge in the back because all of the electronic are built into the base. It’s LED display that has the thinness of an OLED panel. It will be available in two versions – a monitor and a combination HDTV and Monitor.

There’s no word yet about when the 950’s will hit the market, but they are saying that will likely be the first half of this year. Of course there is also no price as of yet, but you can almost always expect to pay a handsome price when you buy top-of-the-line gear.

Toshiba Glasses Free 3D TV

Toshiba was demonstrating lots of 3D TVs in their booth at CES. 3D was the big buzz word at last year’s CES show and I wasn’t impressed.

This year all the major companies were showing 3D TVs and the technology (and price points) have improved. There are a number of issues surrounding 3D: cost, lack of content, multiple 3D technologies, and having to wear the stupid 3D glasses.

Well, Toshiba was showing off a “glasses free” 3D TV. The demo was interesting but you could tell it’s was a first generation product. You needed to be right in front of the display to see the 3D effects and it still wasn’t as good as viewing with glasses.

I don’t believe “glasses free” 3D TV (or 3D TV in general) is here for everyone, but there’s always next year.

Sensio 3D Coming to a TV Near You

Sensio was in CES Unveiled to tell the world about three new poducts: Sensio Auto Detect; S2D Switch; and the HiFi 3D Codec.

All these products are intended for use by TV manufacturers to make it easier to add the 3D technology to their products.

The Sensio Auto Detect automatically detects if the signal coming in is 2D or 3D and switches to the proper decoder. The HiFi 3D Codec helps to decode the 3D format. The S2D Switch allows the user to view 3D content as 2D. Sensio also has a 3D library of content to provide the entire 3D experience.
