Announcing Audible as CES 2011 Sponsor

I am proud to announce that Audible is one of our CES 2011 coverage sponsors. Having been a Audible customer for a very long time, I am very happy to welcome them aboard. Often when I talk to people about the Audible listening experience people have no idea that the 10’s of thousands of books that are available via Audible are narrated by professionals and I find that pausing a book is almost as hard as laying a real book down. The story telling is amazing.

I encourage all of you to give Audible a try it is a experience that you will not regret. Get a 14 day free trial. Getting started takes just a few minutes and you will be listening to a book the way the Author wanted your to experience it.

Never a Charge!

We have been asked by a number of vendors whether we charge for our Interviews.

Never have, Never will. We would not compromise our editorial integrity to even consider charging for an interview. The handful of sponsors we have for the show will be clearly designated in signage, on air and in post show produced content.

Because some think we are a vendor we have received email solicitations from some media outlets asking us to pay for an interview which is quite shocking. Frankly we are surprised that the Consumers Electronic Association puts up with media companies that do this. We believe in covering vendors that have cool an innovative products not pay for play.

Our expenses to cover CES exceed $40,000 but the value of the conversations and new relationships is worth the expense. Millions of people will watch our coverage because they know from history our team’s integrity and our ability to dig down in weeds and find the cool stuff.

While we would not be able to do this show without our sponsors, we look forward to bringing you unbiased coverage of the show.

TPN Interviews on the CES2011 Show Floor

New Exhibitor ? Here’s How to Get an Interview at Your Booth

It’s not hard to get the attention of the TPN CES Team and get a great interview. It’s Marketing 101 in practice – but with hundreds of booths on a single pass, our two field interview teams are still mighty busy. Here’s a short video with some tips and info on what we are looking for as we fight our way through tens of thousands of people each day.

Good signage is a great start – explaining what consumer needs your product and why. You have about fifteen seconds to grab us – and recognize that even at fifteen seconds per booth, it can still take us at least an hour to walk one aisle, scouting for interesting products and services.

Good problem statements, product features and benefits , and a clear and concise story helps a great deal.

Above all – smile ! Have some fun, and recognize that your enthusiasm for the product is what really makes a good interview.

TPN CES Live Coverage Vendor Guidelines

TPN CES Live coverage vendor guidelines is to help vendor reps that have never appeared on a live program. We have been getting a lot of questions from vendors on the process for the live broadcast, and what to expect. I have put together a short video that talks about how to get scheduled and what to expect when you come to our broadcast studio in South Hall. One thing is for sure do not worry we plan on having a lot of fun, and all you really need to know is be yourself.

Huge Thanks to our Sponsor: Sponsor: If you headed to Vegas for the holidays, I want you to check out the great rates at The New Luxor Las Vegas. I was really impressed with all the new venues and updated rooms. It’s the new place to be.

What Is BackChannel? Another Great Way to Watch TPN’s CES Coverage!

backchannel video

During the trip to Vegas and the Consumer Electronics Show, we not only record primary channel video, but also Backchannel video. This is simply video we record as we move from booth to booth. We also record backchannel of after-hour parties and more.

Backchannel video is taken from handheld cameras – Flip, Kodak, Sanyo – the pocket cameras you may have to record everyday moments. These cameras – some recording in HD themselves, give you an idea of what happens behind the scenes at the Consumer Electronics Show.

We will be not only creating video for you, but also streaming it on the Techpodcasts2 channel.

Sponsor Announcement: Luxor Las Vegas

The 2011 Tech Podcast Network team is proud to announce that Luxor Las Vegas is one of our official sponsors for the 2011 show.  The TPN team will be basing their CES operations out of the beautiful Luxor Casino and Hotel.

A number of our team members were able to take a tour of the hotel a  few weeks ago, and found the rooms to be fresh and accommodating.

The real action of course is in the casino and in and around the hotel with a very hip vibe in the clubs and restaurants. The team will be exploring everything Luxor Las Vegas has to offer when we hit Vegas on January 2nd in preparation for CES 2011.

We’re excited and the Luxor staff is excited to host the coolest bunch of tech guys and gals to hit Vegas for the show.  Check out the great rates and special offers that the hotel is offering to guest through the holidays, and consider bringing in the New Year at Luxor Las Vegas.

CES2011: My greatest tech experience yet?

CES: Follow the most exciting TECH event of the year!

This is no ordinary event.  In four days Las Vegas is visited by 130,000 people and over $500 million in annual sales is represented by the companies on site.

Most of all, this is a FUN event.  You will see us working our temporary studio in a booth on the upper level in the south hall like nothing you have ever seen.  We are outside our “comfort” zone, which means we have to work harder and be more innovative.  This is a true test and we do this because we LOVE what we do and we would LOVE it if you can join us!

Interesting fact: I started out as the bicycling “tech support” for my friends after I spent a summer working for McDonald’s to afford my first computer, the amazing “Commodore Amiga 500”.  Yeah, those were the days.  I’ve been making technology easy for everyone ever since.

Expectations of CES 2011: I want to have FUN and bring you the best tech coverage ever!
