Divorce: Emergency Protocol by AJ Maddeny
https://www.amazon.com/Divorce-Emergency-Protocol-AJ-Maddeny/dp/B0FFYP9JJ8
Divorce: Emergency Protocol is a structural survival guide for the most disorienting phase of separation — the moment after one spouse says “I want out,” but before anything else has taken shape.
This isn’t therapy. It’s not a pep talk. It’s a calm, unflinching handbook designed to help you function clearly when the ground shifts beneath you.
Built for the person who didn’t initiate the breakup but is now responsible for stabilizing its aftermath, this book offers clear tools for navigating the volatile early stretch of divorce — legally, emotionally, and logistically.
You’ll learn how to:
Reclaim agency when you feel blindsided
Avoid costly legal and financial missteps
Prepare documentation and protect key records
Communicate with dignity instead of panic
Support your children while staying grounded
Design the first phase of your divorce with intention, not impulse
Whether you’re still sharing a home or reeling from a sudden declaration, this guide helps you lead with structure — not survival instinct.
Written by a conflict resolution professional trained in decision science and negotiation, Divorce: Emergency Protocol reframes divorce not as personal failure, but as a structural rupture requiring clarity, not chaos.
You won’t find closure here. But you will find your footing.
About the author AJ Maddeny is a conflict strategist and decision systems expert whose work challenges conventional thinking about power, resolution, and personal agency. With advanced degrees in Conflict Analysis and Decision Science, he brings a structural lens to life’s most disorienting experiences — including disputes, negotiation, and misaligned systems.
His approach to resolution is grounded in objective analysis and dynamic engagement with systems, roles, and personalities. Maddeny’s goal is to move readers from chaos to clarity, restoring agency and fairness through strategic structure.
By mapping new frameworks for human interaction, he offers tools — not just insight — to help individuals rebuild coherence where systems break down.

When Daniel Smith sets out on a crime-as-performance-art spree (known as the “Crime Artist” around town for blowing up cans of paint in bank vaults) fueled in part by the sudden death of his mother (who revisits him, spitefully, as a ghost), he never expects to be forcefully joined by two adherents to his youthful idealist cause: Zach, a sharply honest androgynous blonde, and Lucy, an insouciant voluptuous beauty. On the run from the police as well as from the aching doldrums of life in Lincoln, Nebraska, the three are determined to “change the world” by expanding on Daniel’s original series of art crimes. A folksy cast of characters brings together a surrealist romp of a book that toys with questions of art and life, humor and sex, beauty and the absurd. It’s a snowstorm, it’s a rainbow riot, it’s a blazing mad costume party. Read it, if you dare.

Distancing: How Great Leaders Reframe to Make Better Decisions by L. David Marquet, Michael A. Gillespie
https://www.amazon.com/Distancing-Leaders-Reframe-Better-Decisions/dp/0593713109
Distance gives you perspective. Bestselling author of Turn the Ship Around! former US Navy Captain David Marquet and professor of psychology Michael Gillespie show you how to make better decisions by becoming your own coach.
Be yourself. Be fully present. Be in the moment. This is a message we hear constantly. While this may be beneficial some of the time, the biggest obstacle to making wiser decisions that actually drive lasting success is ourselves. Being fully immersed in our own limited point of view biases our decisions toward defending our previous actions and maintaining our self-image. We need to exit our me-here-and-now self and get an outside perspective that sees us and the situation we are in objectively. We need a coach.
This book shows us how to become our own coach by using a mental technique called psychological distancing. We do this in three ways: self-distancing, spatial distancing, and temporal distancing. First, we can be someone else, inhabiting another’s perspective. This activates the neutral observer’s outside point of view. Second, we can be somewhere else. We zoom out and see ourselves from afar, as just another person who is part of a larger context. Third, we can be sometime else, imagining that we are our future selves who are thinking back to what we wish we had done today. In each case, we can coach ourselves from this distanced perspective. The result is a powerful and immediate reframe of how we see ourselves, our situation, and what we should do.
Featuring compelling scientific research, business cases, and exercises, Distancing equips us with effective practical tools to reduce anxiety, see more clearly, and make better decisions for ourselves and for our organizations.

C. Robledo, a bestselling author and editor in self-development.
“The Hole in Your Life is a good toolbox for coping with grief and I agree with all of it. Among the points that resonated with me most deeply are these ideas: grief is part of our life experience, so let’s not be afraid of it; it is easier to recover from grief if you grieve before the person dies and suffer with them; and, that only way to learn from loss with meaning is through suffering, as long as it is not self-inflicted.” — Alfredo Zotti, author of Music Therapy: An Introduction with case studies for mental illness recovery.

Deeper Days: 365 Yoga-spirations for Inner Calm Amidst Chaos by Andrea L. Wehlann
In a world full of war and unrest and everyone voicing their discontent as loud as they can while just trying to keep up with the impossibly fast pace, being able to stop and take a breath is more important than ever to help keep us from completely losing our mind. Deeper Days is a lovingly crafted book to get you moving through the world with love, to help you take a moment to breathe, and find stillness in daily reflection. It guides you along your yogic path to realizing your divine potential. It’s a guide to yoga, but not in the way you might think: no downward-facing dogs or pigeon poses here. Instead, the book takes you back to what yoga is really about: yes, physical postures but also the mental and spiritual practices—including meditation—that will help you find inner peace.
Structured around the eight limbs of yoga as described in Patañjali’s Yoga Sutras, Deeper Days provides a set of 365 short messages of daily reflections for women. Each comes with a phrase at the end—a mantra of sorts— that summarizes the core message of the day and that you can use throughout the day as a reminder of what to focus on.
But you don’t have to complete yoga teacher training or be an adherent of Hinduism or Zen Buddhism or any other philosophy to find value in Deeper Days: this daily reflection book is also a practical guide to how you can incorporate the concepts it describes into your daily life so that you can find inner calm amidst chaos. You can see it as a travel guide for your journey around the Sun, helping you find your personal path leading you to your magnificent heart.

About the author My two beautiful girls and I live in a little country farmhouse down in Southeast Texas. Every year we pick mulberries off the trees and wait with anticipation for the honeysuckles to bloom. Though I may be new to the writing industry in a professional setting, it has always been a passion of mine. Close friends will tell you this was something they always saw me doing.
At the young age of nine when my fourth-grade teacher brought in an author to our classroom, I had this burning desire to one day be just like her. Spring of 2021, God woke me up at about 3 AM and said write. For a few seconds with half dazed sleepy eyes, I questioned Him. I still remember the words, “Ummm …. God …. life is sort of messy right now, you’ve got the wrong woman. “ Again, He prompted me to write. So, I agreed.
I opened my black leather journal, turned to the back pages and my pen let loose. When I say this is a book from Him – let me tell you it is!! He gave me the title, the subtitle, the chapters and what every single one was going to be about. About two hours had passed and there in the middle of my living room floor feeling complexly broken – God was saying it’s time to share daughter.
Within the short years I have been on this side of heaven, my life has been less than easy. I have struggled with feeling broken and have watched how this world creates sharp edges from those experiences. Yet through the years of watching my mother fall sick with a terminal illness, several miscarriages and a divorce – God picked up my pieces and made them into something beautiful.
This book shares my heart and soul for people. I prayed many years ago for God to give me the eyes and ears to see people as He does. I believe through the experiences He’s allowed in my life He has done just that. The chapters mirror my desire or life mission as you will, to see people restored to a healthy state of mind.

Before They Were Men: Essays on Manhood, Compassion, and What Went Wrong by Jacob Tobia
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0593797949
Gender nonconforming thought leader and bestselling author Jacob Tobia offers a paradigm-shifting argument for fundamentally reframing how we think about men.
“A reckoning, a manifesto, a wellspring of curiosity, and an invitation to consider better ways of imagining masculinity.”—Amanda Montell, New York Times bestselling author of The Age of Magical Overthinking, Cultish, and Wordslut
The conversation about masculinity, patriarchy, and misogyny has never been so prominent or heated. Alarmed by a new generation of angry, broken young men, genderqueer writer Jacob Tobia sets out to explore what’s going on and comes to a shocking conclusion: Emotionally and spiritually speaking, men and boys may be the ones suffering the most under the gender binary right now.
Tobia should know. For their gender-defying adolescent heart, the nonconsensual process of being “made a man” was crushing. After spending a lifetime fleeing manhood and masculinity, they dare to ask the question: What happens if we stop understanding men as categorical beneficiaries of patriarchal institutions and start understanding them for what they are—co-survivors of patriarchy itself?
In a series of personal and revolutionary essays, Before They Were Men argues that we must rewire much of our framework of feminism. Through this much-needed nonbinary intervention into a two-sided discourse gone stale, Tobia boldly posits compassion and empathy as the forces that will lead men—and us all—to a brighter future. Urgent, surprising, and counterintuitive, their book covers topics such as
• the unspoken body image issues and dysmorphia confronting men and boys • the difficulty of challenging a world that glorifies war, aggression, and the violence of men • the case for rethinking, and ultimately retiring, counterproductive terms like “toxic masculinity” and “male privilege”
From exploring the abuse endured by men in the name of gender norms to addressing the myriad failures of feminist discourse in grappling with men’s suffering, this book calls everyone—men, women, and nonbinary people alike—back to the table.

The Chris Voss Show Podcast – The Difference That Makes the Difference: NLP and the Science of Positive Change by Josh Davis, Greg Prosmushkin
July 05, 2025
The Difference That Makes the Difference: NLP and the Science of Positive Change by Josh Davis, Greg Prosmushkin https://www.amazon.com/Difference-that-Makes-Science-Positive/dp/1250349087
Take control of your life and create profound change today using NLP and the science of positive change!
Learn why people resist change, why they sometimes embrace change, and how to lead change quickly and in lasting ways.
It all comes down to finding the difference that makes the difference for each person and context. Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) is great for finding that difference. NLP helps us understand what makes people tick. When we understand how they think, feel, and act in key situations, we have the raw material with which to make change happen, often quickly and profoundly.
In the 1970s, a linguist and his partner studied the language patterns and nonverbal cues of great psychotherapists, as well as how people are affected by the systems they’re part of. The two pinpointed key aspects of what enables human beings to change. Their findings formed the basis of NLP. Since then, NLP has often been taught to therapists and life coaches aiming to master one-on-one interactions in those contexts.
When the lawyer Greg Prosmushkin discovered NLP, he realized how incredibly valuable these tools could be outside a therapy context. How to communicate with confidence, model excellence, and influence your own and others’ thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are useful for many people in many situations. Greg used NLP to make huge breakthroughs in his trials and to step into his own as an entrepreneur.
In 2022, Greg met Josh Davis, PhD, a Columbia University PhD who studied psychology and neuroscience, and the Founder and Director of the Science-Based Leadership Institute. Josh is an NLP expert who grew up in the 1970s and 80s as the child of two pioneers in the field of NLP. He’s an NLP native. He’s been training others to use NLP for over a decade. Josh is also the internationally best-selling author of Two Awesome Hours, a science-based set of strategies to work less and get your most important work done.
Greg and Josh set out to make NLP easily accessible for everyone. They show how the tools of NLP can be used by anyone in their daily work and personal lives, and connect these actionable tools to the science of change. The Difference that Makes the Difference is a result of their rigorous and dedicated collaboration.
In this book, readers learn how to: -Communicate with confidence -Model excellence, to learn and master new skills -Influence their own and others’ thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in positive ways -and much more!
You’ll get: -Step-by-step instructions with tips -Guided prompts to follow that help you apply these time-tested tools to your own specific needs -Examples of how to use the tools in everyday situations -Simple explanations of the theory and science behind the tools -Clear explanations of why the tools are so powerful
NLP has been time-tested for fifty years, but until now it has only been accessible for a select few. Books and methods of teaching NLP were complex because the subject matter was highly sophisticated and derived from the work of professional psychotherapists. Greg Prosmushkin and Josh Davis, PhD have spent a combined 35+ years studying and unlocking the value of NLP. Josh has been teaching these concepts and tools in specialized NLP trainings, as well as one-on-one and group coaching settings, to Fortune 500 audiences and beyond. The Chris Voss Show Podcast – “I Am a Man”: Chief Standing Bear’s Journey for Justice by Joe Starita

“I Am a Man”: Chief Standing Bear’s Journey for Justice by Joe Starita
https://www.amazon.com/Am-Man-Standing-Journey-Justice/dp/0312533047
In 1877, Chief Standing Bear’s Ponca Indian tribe was forcibly removed from their Nebraska homeland and marched to what was then known as Indian Territory (now Oklahoma), in what became the tribe’s own Trail of Tears. “I Am a Man” chronicles what happened when Standing Bear set off on a six-hundred-mile walk to return the body of his only son to their traditional burial ground. Along the way, it examines the complex relationship between the United States government and the small, peaceful tribe and the legal consequences of land swaps and broken treaties, while never losing sight of the heartbreaking journey the Ponca endured. It is a story of survival—of a people left for dead who arose from the ashes of injustice, disease, neglect, starvation, humiliation, and termination. On another level, it is a story of life and death, despair and fortitude, freedom and patriotism. A story of Christian kindness and bureaucratic evil. And it is a story of hope—of a people still among us today, painstakingly preserving a cultural identity that had sustained them for centuries before their encounter with Lewis and Clark in the fall of 1804.
Before it ends, Standing Bear’s long journey home also explores fundamental issues of citizenship, constitutional protection, cultural identity, and the nature of democracy—issues that continue to resonate loudly in twenty-first-century America. It is a story that questions whether native sovereignty, tribal-based societies, and cultural survival are compatible with American democracy. Standing Bear successfully used habeas corpus, the only liberty included in the original text of the Constitution, to gain access to a federal court and ultimately his freedom. This account aptly illuminates how the nation’s delicate system of checks and balances worked almost exactly as the Founding Fathers envisioned, a system arguably out of whack and under siege today.
Joe Starita’s well-researched and insightful account reads like historical fiction as his careful characterizations and vivid descriptions bring this piece of American history brilliantly to life.
About the author Joe Starita holds an endowed professorship at the University of Nebraska College of Journalism and Mass Communications. Previously, he spent 14 years at The Miami Herald – four years as the newspaper’s New York Bureau Chief and four years on its Investigations Team, where he specialized in investigating the questionable practices of doctors, lawyers and judges. One of his stories was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in local reporting. Interested since his youth in Native American history and culture, he returned to his native Nebraska in 1992 and began work on a three-year writing project examining five generations of a Lakota-Northern Cheyenne family. The Dull Knifes of Pine Ridge – A Lakota Odyssey, published in 1995 by G.P. Putnam Sons (New York), won the Mountain and Plains Booksellers Award, was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in history, has been translated into six languages and is the subject of an upcoming documentary. Starita’s most recent book – “I Am A Man” – Chief Standing Bear’s Journey for Justice – was published in January 2009 by St. Martin’s Press (New York) and has gone into a seventh printing.

In literary criticism, the consideration of the religious motivations of the writer is often neglected. Four classics are considered in terms of the religious ideas their authors wished to present: Shakespeare, Milton, Melville, T.S. Eliot. Several Catholic/Christian theological problems are addressed, for example did God always intend to become man, or not? Is there a model for the Eucharist in the natural world? Can the image of the Trinity be seen in the basis of the physical world? Short essays describe four pillars of Catholicism: the Mass; the Bible; the Rosary; Marian apparitions. Finally there are pithy sayings from Father Benedict Groeschel.

Cleaning House: The Fight to Rid Our Homes of Toxic Chemicals by Lindsay Dahl
https://www.amazon.com/Cleaning-House-Fight-Homes-Chemicals/dp/0063375591
From the front lines of the movement for safer products, environmental health expert Lindsay Dahl takes us on her journey from skeptic to activist, exposing the secret forces that keep toxic chemicals in our homes, bodies, and environment—showing us how to fight back and keep our families safe.
In Cleaning House, Lindsay Dahl shows how seemingly innocuous items—everything from toys to common beauty and cleaning products—can include toxic chemicals, thanks to a consistent failure of regulation in the United States. The scientific research linking toxic chemicals in products to rising rates of cancer and reproductive harms is as strong as the science that led to banning lead from gasoline, PBCs, and DDT. But with varying degrees of protective guardrails in place for the everyday items, consumers are tasked with playing toxic-chemical detective and those unable to afford safer products are left hanging in the balance. Through vivid storytelling and robust scientific evidence, Dahl makes a compelling case that a safer world will only arrive through systemic change. We must turn off the tap of toxic chemicals before they make their way into our homes and bodies—and here she shows you how.
Drawing on Dahl’s extensive experience as a lobbyist, product formulator, and a parent, she unravels the shocking web of political and cultural factors that landed us here and are key to solving this massive public health crisis. Dahl takes readers behind the scenes as a young but determined lobbyist fighting powerful chemical industry players, which she discovered are replicating Big Tobacco’s disinformation playbook by downplaying the harms of the toxic chemicals they continue to profit from. And she introduces readers to the brilliant scientists doing ground-breaking research, legislators passing life-saving laws, forward-thinking business leaders, communities facing the highest level of exposure to toxic chemical pollution, and parents from all political stripes who have joined the fight for a safer world.
Told through a compelling David and Goliath narrative, Cleaning House dares to take a pragmatic and science-based approach to the concept of clean living, in a time where the wellness movement is threatened by partisan politics and misinformation. It is an essential read for anyone who wants a safer home and a safer future for our children.
About the author Lindsay Dahl is a nationally awarded environmental health and consumer safety expert. Over the last twenty years Dahl has helped pass over thirty state and federal laws that remove toxic chemicals from consumer products and our environment. Her activism and writing has been featured in the New York Times, Fast Company, and Vogue, among other publications. Dahl has worked across leadership positions for environmental health nonprofits including Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families, and for leading consumer brands including: Ritual and Beautycounter. She sits on the board of directors for the nonprofits Toxic-Free Future and the Chamber of Mothers.

How to Sleep Like a Caveman: Ancient Wisdom for a Better Night’s Rest―Based on the Evolutionary Science of Sleep from Saber-Toothed Tigers to Modern Insomnia by Merijn van de Laar
Sapiens meets Why We Sleep in an evolutionary romp through the science of sleep—and how we can get better rest—by one of the world’s leading sleep scientists.
We spend roughly a third of our lives in bed, but for millions of us, not all of that time is spent sleeping. We strive for eight hours per night, only to lie awake thanks to stress, our ever-present devices, a new baby, or that 4pm coffee you thought you needed.
As sleep scientist and recovering insomniac Merijn van de Laar shows, we’re hardly the first to experience this. When homo sapiens evolved hundreds of thousands of years ago, when saber-toothed tigers were their biggest nighttime worry, wakefulness served to protect one’s tribe at night. Research shows these episodic sleep patterns even gave our ancestors an evolutionary advantage. We can look to their example for guidance in improving our sleep health, too: how our sleep patterns change as we age, the benefits of communal sleep, the importance of environmental factors such as temperature and light. While our myriad gadgets may distinguish us from early humans, understanding the ways our brains evolved to rest can chart the course toward a better night’s sleep.
Drawing from emerging science, archeological research into our ancestors’ habits, and close observation of contemporary hunter-gatherer cultures, How to Sleep Like a Caveman explains everything from why we sometimes jerk awake at night—likely a remnant of having slept in trees—to why our efforts to “optimize” our sleep schedules might just be a fool’s errand. The result is a surprising, accessible new framework for thinking about sleep—the way we were designed to.

Tradition to Truth: One Man’s Search for Honest Answers by Jerry Mitchell
Is there a secret code in the Bible? Do you want the key to that code? Tradition to Truth is a journey through time and tradition. It will teach you how to find the answers many people have about the Bible. This is a story of how one man asked for answers and discovered those answers were not what he expected. If you are willing to challenge your traditions and strengthen your faith, this is for you.
About the author Growing up on a farm and working with large animals for most of my life gave me a great deal of insight into the blueprint our Creator used to design our world and mankind. I soon discovered the answers are already in the Bible if we are willing to put our traditions and man made doctrines aside and actually read what is written. The result is in the books, what has taken years of research and forensic analysis of the Bible may answer some of your questions and raise even more.

Matthew, an expert in mergers and acquisitions, introduces his innovative Square Management System, a comprehensive framework designed to help businesses understand and intentionally cultivate corporate culture to achieve optimal staff alignment and business success.
Matthew discusses the often overlooked but critical role of culture in the business environment, especially during mergers and acquisitions. Using his Square Management System, he highlights the importance of understanding corporate culture and the individual work preferences of employees to create a harmonious and productive workplace. This episode emphasizes that successful mergers often hinge on cultural fit more so than financial metrics and that understanding the preferences for independence or constraint can lead to better job satisfaction and performance. Key Takeaways: The Square Management System emphasizes four elements—identity, instruction, intercommunication, and information feedback—as crucial for understanding and shaping corporate culture.
Employers and employees benefit significantly from cultural alignment, impacting individual job satisfaction and overall business success.
Cultural fit in mergers and acquisitions can often predict the success or failure of such ventures, as seen in both infamous and successful M&A cases.
Matthew’s approach underscores that there is no universally right or wrong culture; it’s about finding the fit that aligns the company’s processes with employees’ natural work styles.
Taking self-assessment quizzes can help both employees and executives understand their ideal work environments, ensuring better placement and higher retention.

After journeying through three versions of “the only true church,” Valekis deftly invites his readers to join him in his ongoing discovery of humanity in Christ and what it can mean for the church and the world.
Endorsement: Millions of religious believers will clearly recognize the spiritual journey narrated by Jim Valekis in this powerful story. A son of the Greek Orthodox Church finds himself in Herbert W. Armstrong’s Worldwide Church of God, which eventually takes him into more traditional Christianity and out again. Where he ends up at the end of this fascinating pilgrimage will be a big surprise. But Valekis astutely narrates his journey and brings readers along with him to a spiritual destination that includes the whole world. In a religious and political landscape that has become a culture war of all against all, Valekis’s final message of oneness and wholeness in Christ is a welcome antidote.─Andrew Manis, Emeritus Professor of History Middle Georgia State University, Macon, Georgia In your hands is a book that speaks powerfully to both the complexities of living and growing in the Church, and to the way God moves in our individual lives as believers. Through the story of author Jim Valekis, we see a riveting faith testimony passed from one generation of family to another — across cultures, continents, and denominations. We experience through Jim’s journey how our Christian faith can ground us and cover us spiritually, despite a fallen world, broken relationships, and vocational volatility. Jim reminds us that while our conditions and surroundings rise and fall, our steadfast relationship with Christ is All. I commend this book to you. ─Chuck Proudfit, President At Work On Purpose
About the Author: Jim Valekis was born in Alabama with a “bouzouki” on his knee. His Greco-American parents raised their family as part of a thriving Greek Orthodox community in Birmingham. As a teenager captivated by the radio teachings of Herbert W. Armstrong, Valekis defied his roots and eventually followed a call to pastor in the Worldwide Church of God. When the former cult transitioned into Evangelicalism, Jim followed, continuing to pastor in Grace Communion International. Most recently Valekis co-founded the vision for the Tipp Center, a faith-based business and resource hub, where he is the chaplain. Jim holds a master’s degree in Biblical Studies from Earlham School of Religion. He enjoys hanging out with his wife Becky, biking, painting, and sharing (especially over Greek comfort food) how his new theological understanding connects back in profound ways with the ancient Trinitarian fabric of his Orthodox upbringing, a relational Christ-centered fabric expansive enough to include every human being.
